Lead Training Specialist - Advisory Services
As a training advisor and project manager, Rueben has more than 20 years of experience in adult education and training. He has directed learning programs at every level and specializes in creating and delivering training that helps individuals develop skills, not just knowledge, from their learning experiences. Rueben has also created curriculum for both instructor-led and online instruction to help organizations equip their employees and effectively assess training to ensure long-term success.
Rueben shared some insights into his career, current position, and past accomplishments below.
1. When and why did you decide to pursue a career in your field?
My experience in education and interest in developing curriculum led me to opportunities to help companies improve their training in this power industry. I am continually encouraged by the welcoming attitude toward sustainable and targeted training development.
2. What do you like best about your job?
This industry maintains a consist culture of hard work and dedication that reminds me a lot of the military. I love being able to travel to any company and experience the same levels of discipline and dedication to improving performance.
3. What project are you most proud of?
I have worked with several companies over the years to create training programs from the ground up. Working from virtually nothing and being able to see sustained growth through generations of training is very gratifying.
4. How has your job changed over the past few years?
The evolution of technology through software such as advanced Learning Management Systems and simulators has continued to evolve rapidly. It has been exciting to see how quickly these resources have been integrated into improving the training programs of companies across the industry.
5. What motivates you?
I am driven by the opportunities this career affords me to meet new people. Also, I enjoy learning new ways to help improve people’s lives through improving their work performance.
