Sling Safety

Welcome to another HSI Safe in Sixty.

Sling safety doesn't have to be a heavy lift.

Never use damaged or defective slings. Inspect your slings daily before use.

Check for wear, defective fittings, distortion, and increased length.

Never use defective or non-approved slings. Do not shorten slings with knots, bolts, or other devices.

Make sure that steel slings have no permanent kinks. Never exceed the sling's rated capacity or working load limit.

Attachments must have a rated capacity at least equal to the sling with which they are used.

Securely attach the sling to its load and check safety latches to make sure they are properly functioning on the hooks.

Before lifting the loaded slings, make sure the load is balanced.

Until next time, remember: Your safety is worth the extra minute.
