Course overview

Generation, transmission, and distribution systems contain vital components requiring constant monitoring. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is the agency that defines how those items are monitored. To ensure compliance with NERC standards, all owners and operators must be familiar with Protection and Control requirements as they relate to Distribution Monitoring Equipment (DME) and data reporting. The Disturbance Monitoring Equipment training course explains why DME is required, identifies and applies guidelines of applicable NERC standards, describes types and applications of common DME, and discusses accurate DME data reporting. This online course is part of the System Protection training series.
