301-09 - UKEU - Intro to Distribution Systems

301-09 - UKEU - Intro to Distribution Systems

Learning objectives

  • Describe basic terminology and fundamental concepts relating to electrical energy production and delivery in large power systems
  • Describe the characteristics associated with resistive, inductive, and capacitive electrical load and utilization.
  • Describe how the Real-time electrical power system generates, transports, distributes, and delivers electrical energy to consumers

Course overview

Understanding basic power distribution fundamentals is key to a reliable bulk power system. Being familiar with terminology, system voltages, power plants, and substations is key to avoiding issues and events on the grid. The Introduction to Distribution Systems training course discusses basic electrical terminology and addresses Faraday's Law and concepts. It explains electrical load characteristics for the bulk electric system. It also describes bulk electrical power systems including power plants, substations, and electrical safety. This course is part of the Distribution Systems training series.
