Learning objectives

  • Demonstrate how to stabilize and immobilize an injured area using a splint or improvised materials.
  • Apply ice, compression, and elevation appropriately to help reduce swelling and pain.
  • Evaluate when to wait for EMS versus when to attempt splinting or moving an injured person.
