Course overview

The purpose of this lesson is to familiarize individuals who work in medical facilities with the types of personal protective equipment (PPE) they may use on the job. The lesson addresses the purpose of personal protective equipment, as well as information on appropriate usage, maintenance, and disposal. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that healthcare organizations provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to employees who are exposed to infectious contaminants on the job and train employees on how to use PPE safely and effectively.
