What is Silica?

Crystalline silica is a basic component of soil, sand, granite and many other minerals.

Crystalline silica is:

• Found in many common materials on construction sites
• Found in dust created by cutting, grinding, drilling, or disturbing materials containing silica
• Very small and cannot be seen
• Classified as a lung carcinogen and can cause silicosis
