Back Safety

Welcome to another HSI Safe in Sixty.

What increases the risk of back injury?

It could be aging, awkward postures, vibration, forceful exertion, or repetitive motion.

To protect your back, maintain a healthy weight, watch what you eat, and get plenty of exercise.

Work on exercises to strengthen your back, abdominal, and leg muscles.

Yoga and stretching can keep you flexible, and help you warm up before you start work.

Maintain a good posture, stand up straight. Avoid stress wherever possible.

When you lift, support your lower back, and lift with your knees, not your back.

Keep loads close to your body. If you can't lift it alone, always ask for help

If you feel pain or if you hurt your back, report it and seek medical attention.

Until next time, remember: Your safety is worth the extra minute.
