Course overview

The purpose of the lesson is to provide mining contractors with an awareness of the federal regulations outlined in CFR 30, Part 56, Subparts H, I, and J that address transportation controls and communication systems at surface mines. The lesson is part of an 8-hour refresher-training curriculum that mining contractors must complete annually. The lesson addresses the controls necessary to maintain safe roadways, mobile equipment, and travelways. The lesson also addresses the controls and communication systems necessary to transport people, equipment, and supplies safely.
