EPA for Managers

EPA for Managers

Learning objectives

  • Gain an understanding of the Equal Pay Act and how it applies to organizations and managers. Here, we'll discuss the gender wage gap and managerial responsibilities under the law.

Course overview

Equal pay for equal work. If two people are doing the same job for the same company, they should be paid the same, regardless of their gender. Right? In 2022, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found that for full-time, year-round workers, women are paid about 83% of what men are paid, and this inequity is even greater for Black and Hispanic women. Historically, women have been paid less than men for doing the same job. In 1963, to address this issue, President Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act, or EPA. Over sixty years later, there's still a massive wage discrepancy, known as the gender wage gap. In this course, we'll take a closer look at what the EPA means by equal pay, equal work, and the same establishment, and what your responsibilities are as a manager.
