Course overview

Excavation is a necessary part of construction, but being unfamiliar with its hazards can lead to project delays, repairs costs, fines, injuries, and even death. When workers have completed this course, they should be able to identify basic ground disturbance principles and hazards. They should also be able to identify employee roles for excavation, including the excavator and locator. They should be able to recognize underground utility markings. Finally, they should be able to identify what to do if someone contacts a buried utility on the worksite, even if no damage occurs.
