Silica Awareness for Construction: Controlling RCS Exposure (SNP-224.2)

Silica Awareness for Construction: Controlling RCS Exposure (SNP-224.2)

Learning objectives

  • Recognize controls to minimize worker exposure to respirable crystalline silica

Course overview

Silica, or silicone dioxide, is a common mineral and major component of many types of rock and sand. It can also be found in building materials including concrete, mortar and drywall. Respirable crystalline silica, or RCS, are very small particles of crystalline silica, and are created by cutting, sawing, grinding, drilling, or crushing materials that contain crystalline silica. When employees have successfully completed this course, they should be able to recognize controls to minimize worker exposure to respirable crystalline silica (RCS).This microlearning course represents a small part of a broader topic. For a more complete training experience, see CON-7.2 Silica Awareness for Construction.

The individuals involved in the development and promotion of this course do not receive any compensation or financial benefits outside of their regular employment for their work on this course.
