Reducing Tripping Hazards

Sprains, fractures, bruises, or worse, are real risks posed by tripping hazards. These incidents can be avoided completely with the right safety training.
And, naturally, trips often lead to falls, which differ in severity depending on the circumstances.
In your work environment, the higher the risk posed by falling, the greater the importance of tripping prevention; think of anyone working several stories up on scaffolding, for example.
It’s important to take steps to prevent trips in the workplace.
- Keep work areas well lit.
- Keep work areas clean and clutter-free. Store materials and tools properly, and clean up as you work, being mindful of your coworkers.
- Make sure objects don’t interfere with walkways, such as extension cords or boxes.
- Report hazards that may cause someone to lose their footing, such as loose carpet or broken floor tiles.
- Only carry loads that you can see over.
- Don’t run up or down stairs.
Until next time, stay positive, stay safe, and remember your safety training!
